I am trying to make a minimalist theme and I want to be able to maximize a window.. or just have it move in front of a panel made of shortcuts but have those shortcuts hide themselves.. any suggesitons?

sounds like a hotspot is in order.

Eh, all ready can do that.. I just wanted it to be there.. but be sticky to the desktop and below the rest of the windows

Completely hiding it is a pain.. because then I have to unhide it... and I can already do that

Use a label and AlwaysOnTop false (which is default, anyway)? Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you mean.

If you don't define a shortcut or label as OnTop then it is already on the bottom. So the only thing left to answer was about hiding them. To hide them automatically you would use a hotspot to show and hide the panel.

Hmmm, I knew that stuff already and I have tried it. However they are still staying ontop of any windows placed over them. I am using Layercut, for no other reason than that is what I have on my computer. Perhaps this is a bug with that module. Yes AlwaysOnTop is default to false I believe. I also cant' get my VWM to be not on top as well. Once again I have looked through my .rc files to make sure there isn't a VWMAlwaysOnTop command and there isn't. That module seems to be not cooperating as well. I am using a predefined theme, perhaps I should start from scratch but hey that is why I picked a them in the first place in order to not have to do all this work. Any more ideas fellas?

Stop using layercut. After skimming the readme for it, I couldn't spot a flag for alwaysontop true/false, and after reading its history, it seems to be notorious for z-order problems.

As for the vwm, rabidvwm is not on top by default. I just gave that a quick test to varify it. You are using that one, yes?

Yes I am, well dern I have to rewrite my shortcuts now. WHen I just go over to easycuts I have these white boxes around my shortcuts, and I am not sure what is causing that. I can't get rabidvwm to go underneath the other windows.

easycuts... as in the really, really old module?

Ha, yeah.. what would you recommend. I was just working with stuff off of my computer. I will download something new.. if layercut isn't good... what would you recommend? Still no idea on how to solve the rabidvwm problem?

I am starting to worry about the other things you are using on that PC. What build are you even using?

Newest build, actually I am just going to start from scratch I guess. No one seems to be able to fix this, so maybe it is just a problem with this theme. Thank you guys for your help.

I would recommend switching to xlabel. iirc, layercuts is an old shortcut module. xlabel should be able to do everything (and more) that layercuts could do.
