Is there a way to have Movable Icons and make xDesktop memorize their position. So that when I restart my computer, or restart Litestep, the icons return to the position that was previously assigned to them? They aren't all in a line, therefore setting the X and Y doesn't work, mine are set up all differently.

My fatbar 1.0 theme has moveable icons that save their position. Have a look in the xdesktop.rc file for how it's setup.

If you have an lsxcommand/.editbox, you can put in !xDesktopCreate replace ".desktop" to reset your icons starting at your x/y position.

Well, if you're talking about for my theme, it's in the config folder ($LitestepDir$themes\fatbar\config\).

If you're talking about some other theme that uses xdesktop, the file could be anything the creator named it, but generally, it will be something pretty obvious. :P

My theme didn't come with xDesktop. I installed it seperately. It just came with one dll file.

globex: I think there is a misunderstanding here:

When you say:
"Is there a way to have Movable Icons and make xDesktop memorize their position."

We assume you have a theme that is using xDesktop. xDesktop saves its positions.

xcal was pointing you to his theme fatbar, it uses xDesktop, if you get this theme you can look at the xDesktop.rc file for how its setup.

Get his theme!

Its on the Themes page on this site :)

Im using the nonstep theme. I like it much better. So what you're saying is that it can't be done?

Posted by member 248213 on 2005-08-04 02:48:41 link

No!, we are both saying that it can be done.

Yes!, Desktop Icons can be made moveable, and have their positions saved!

You can do exactly what you want with xDesktop.

xDesktop is a Litestep module.

A module is what gives Litestep its different parts (like the popup menu, or in this case Desktop icons)

There are many different modules that do the same thing (in this case Icons on the desktop: IconDesk, Deskfolders, xDesktop etc)

xDesktop is the only Desktop Icon module that provides saving.
You are probably using one of the other modules (you could check in the theme.rc file :o )

You can get xDesktop here: http://www.ls-universe.info/modules_list.php

Read the documentation for the module (its in the zip file)

You should be able to figure out your problems after reading the f%*%ing manual.

ps: You seem a total n00b so go and read this too: http://wiki.litestep.com/

Ya, I wasn't saying you should use my theme... I was saying you could look at it for an example of how xdesktop works. :P
