I'm trying to get label-1.99's "TrueTransparency" to work, but it doesn't do anything. It doesn't even show the original background it shows the pink color. I don't know what to do cause i need these areas to show directly whats underneith them.

on a follow up note, not that it matters... but if the transparency works, will it let you click on objects in that area or does it treat it like its part of the label?

for the transparency, try xlabel. clicks should go through.

read the docs... there're some syntax differences between original label and xlabel

Thanks alot, i got it to work, although i probably could have gotten it to work without xlabel. i didn't realize you needed both transparent and truetransparency on.

"Thanks alot, i got it to work"

Really?!? I posted a while ago about this problem and was sure this feature was not enabled in label and was enabled but faulty in xlabel. Guess I'll have to try again.

sorry for being dumb, but what in fact is the difference between true transparency and magic pink? i always get confused about these two, and whether i use the one or the other in label, it always seemed to look the same to me... ?:)

Magic pink is the area of pink in your image that will become transparent. "Transparency" or "true transparency" with the label model determines how that pink area is used. "Transparency" fills the pink area with the desktop image underneath it. If the label overlaps an application you still only see the desktop image, not the application. "True transparency" means the pink area is cut away and anything that it overlaps can be seen through it.

and "true" transparency can be clicked through. xLabel's "ghosted" option is a different feature. (just to make it clear)

There's also alpha transparency, which can be done "true"ly on Win2k and XP, and faked on 98 and ME, (but not at all on 95) and the true form of that will allow clicks through where the alpha channel is exactly 0.

So you have:
fake transparency vs. true transparency
magic pink transparency vs. alpha transparency
