Magic pink is the area of pink in your image that will become transparent. "Transparency" or "true transparency" with the label model determines how that pink area is used. "Transparency" fills the pink area with the desktop image underneath it. If the label overlaps an application you still only see the desktop image, not the application. "True transparency" means the pink area is cut away and anything that it overlaps can be seen through it.
