Every one knows how hard it is to build a theme that actually pleases other users, excepect the builder -sometimes even them-....
Drop a line here, and tell what are the real cool stuff you would like to see in a theme...i.e.: A nice popup ; simple stuff ; etc...
Thanks

Something with a KDE/Explorer bar on the bottom, and abar with the systray on the top with enough space, and a few buttons.
Also with a go/start button, that's always within reach, fast.

bbvwm to see what desk I'm on, a clock and a systray. that's the only thing I need to have on my desktop. Rainlendar is also very useful.

I would say having al the stuff like your lsxcommand, systray, time, tasks, LITTLE winamp remote with display(together with volume and position sliders), maybe some shortcut icons and some other stuff.

And for this the dynamics of being able to disable and enable them all with a click or popup(or changing from like tasks to systray or whatever)!

The thing i need the most is a nice popup. Nice looks and easy to navigate. Then maybe a hidable systray and time indication of some sort.
Those are the most important things to me. Oh yeah and sometimes some pretty eyecandy.

Timoleon: I'll make an OTS compliant version of mode 7, updated for the next millennium :-) when I've released AmigaHLE v1.0 final.

Am I the only one who never uses popups? One thing that I find important in a theme is that it doesn't move the close button of maximized windows away from the upper-right corner of the screen. Good use of Fitt's law is nice.

Basically, it's more efficient to whoosh your mouse to the edge of the screen than it is to whoosh up and then move down a bit to try and hit the button. The File, Edit, View, Etc menubars on Windows applications fail here, whilst Mac applications, which place these menus at the very top of the screen, succeed

I think that the less there is to get in your way the better... hover or click toggles in the corner pixels to pull up bars or menus when you need them and put them away when you are done are great. This follows fitt's law nicely... and a nice thing to have is a one pixel border around maximized windows so popup follows fitt as well... I think that themes should allow the user to add/remove extras that not everyone wants (ie winamp buttons, rainlandiers) without having to change the entire theme to fit it in there... so a more spaced out lay out probably. I've been planning a new theme all day... I thought these were some things that I'd like to see in more themes that would make them a little more friendly to download... oh yeah and if you put a nice html explaining some of the finer details... no one knows everything that your thinking (sometimes I don't know what I'm thinking)... really great features can get hidden and it takes a while to find them if at all.
