Basically, it's more efficient to whoosh your mouse to the edge of the screen than it is to whoosh up and then move down a bit to try and hit the button. The File, Edit, View, Etc menubars on Windows applications fail here, whilst Mac applications, which place these menus at the very top of the screen, succeed
