im just curious is geekamp dead?

I checked loose-screws and saw that the module hasnt been updated in 6 months and doesnt have winamp3 support. Oh well if it is I am now converting my old themes to dynamp which is just geekamp with winamp3 support.

geek amp will work, as will all your favorite winamp 2x plugins.

isn't Winamp3 dead ?

I personally hate Winamp3 and will continue to use Winamp2.
I could probably update geekamp to work with winamp3 if the need was very high.

could you maybe add title scroll funcitonality? I have yet to find a module that is able to scroll song title from winamp3, so if you were to put that functionality into geekamp, you'd have something no other module has.. I don't imagine it's too hard... I'd do it myself if I know how ot make these modules, but as of yet I'm still a LS n00b.

winamp3, with the right skin and a couple plugins, is far superior to winamp 2x.. if you are open minded and wanna give it a shot here's my personal recomandations (I use to hate winamp3 as well)

skin: MMD3 http://www.winamp.com/skins/detail.jhtml?componentId=122902
I would suggest setting the eq in full mode, then running it in only window shade mode, there's really no reason for the others
Plugins:
Explorer bar http://www.winamp.com/components3/detail.jhtml?componentId=118184
The above mentioned winamp2x plugin manager
and if you're a shotcast person grab your favorite shotcast plugin, there's several.

the MMD3 skin provides all the perks you could ever want in a funtional, simple skin, the only thing it's missing is that explorer bar.

Label will scroll the title...so should jAmpToo...

dynamp is a modified version of geekamp and supports both WA2 and WA3.

dynamp also doesn't scroll the title... couldn't get jAmp to scroll it either... never found label... I'll give that a shot

just tried label... doesn't scroll WA3 title either... *sigh*

means you are grabbing the wrong window class name. Once you get the write class name it will work fine.

yeah didn't realise I'd have ot use the class name... but I got it to read the title... problem though, it won't scroll... I added "winampScroll" but it doens't scroll.. any help?

"yeah go back to winamp2"

omg the advice, I must now realise my follies and correct the errors of my ways!

go to hell, don't talk if you don't have anything useful to say.

Set your Label scroll speed and disable scrolling in Winamp3

Not to turn this into a WA2 vs WA3 debate, but my arguments against have to do with the sluggishness of it, the random crashes I experience with it, and the system hog that it is. I do not condemn you for using it, however.

I'm presently working on lsxcommand but if I find some time I can look at this later; if there is even a need...

to each his own, and that's great, this is what hte internet is all about.

as it turns out, as with most things, it was my fault it wasn't working, more or less... the theme I was using had label.dll in it already... what I failed ot realise is that it wasn't the latest version and it didn't have the scroll ability, I updated it and all is well, works fine.

I appreciate all the help

I would very much appreciate lsxcommand working with winamp3, but that's up to you stimpy, if ya decide to do it, give me a shout

Winamp 3 is no longer being developed. Nullsoft is continuing the 2.x branch and will at some point release a Winamp 2/3 hybrid using bits and pieces from each (Winamp 5...2+3...yeah it's pretty cheesy). Don't have a link ATM but I think I read this on slashdot

Paradox: good :)

Winamp3 had a lot of innovation, but it was, in no way, a better overall tool than Winamp2.

yeah, I was happy to hear about that too. I never really liked Winamp3...bloat is kinda ok for some programs as long as it's useful stuff, with Winamp 3 it really wasn't though, and the XML skinning had WAY too much overhead.
