in Biff's defence, I don't see how he could know that as a new user... reading the readme for deskfolders *is* the obvious thing to do. But it's only obvious once you already know:
1. the desktop icon module is deskfolders
2. the documentation can be found in the docs subfolder of the theme's modules directory
3. you know a bit about ls/the way files are organized.
I think it's actually quite *hard* for newbies to figure out litestep now. Installing it is easy, the thing is, installing it is now so easy that you can have it up and running before you know what it's really all about. If you have to struggle to set it up manually like we used to, well by the time you got LiteStep running you had a fair idea how it all worked. ;)
Keep at it Biff, it's a lot to absorb quickly but over time you may get used to the 'litestep way' :P
