eh...sorta. Think of Konfabulator...you can set it up so that all the widgets are hidden and then when you hit f9 (I think) a layer is painted over the desktop and all the widgets are shown. I kinda like this idea because of the widgets I've done using labels. However it's not dependent on what desktop you're on with your vwm.
