something else I've found that might work is the use of a Jap program called hiddenmenu [search on google]. If you add something to the list when you've installed it and figured it out, you can add hotkeys to it. You give it a Ctrl/Alt/Win modifier, and then press whichever button you want. It returns the code for the keys on my extra (pointless) keys keyboard. It's worth a try, it's not a big download.

N.b. It will run the normal function the first time you press it, so it may not be a brilliant idea to press the shutdown button, or anything similar... just a thought
