I found this at annoyances.org
I have just installed some windows updates 2 security and one for; 810030: Microsoft VM Security Update (Windows 2000)This update resolves vulnerabilities in Microsoft virtual machine (Microsoft VM). Since I have installed these my computer is VERY slow to shutdown and stops for 60secs exactly on the saving your settings screen, when it used to take about 10-15 secs. I cannot uninstall this, is this causing the slow shutdown?

Hey! Adams suggestion "worked for me"! Thanks! Wouldn't have worried about slow shutdown except I must change hard drives rather often. Changed the "unconfigured" setting to "10". Now shuts down in about 10 seconds(sted 60). I trust might be even faster at "5"? But, I'm happy. Thankx again, Ted
