I second DeVoLbOi's sentiment. Get 2k or XP...this won't be the last problem in '98. Much like NT4 was, there's a bit of added complexity, but there are a few important things:
1. Multiple users. Set it up right and yiou have the Administrator account to go back tp if you screw things up.
2. Most screw-ups aren't fatal.
3. you can often leave it on, and only reboot when updating every month or two :).
Start in DOS. I think this should do it:
find the shell entry, change it from litestep to explorer.
