I don't know where it is in '98, but either the registry or one of the ini files (I'm thinking system.ini) has the shell path. Search for litestep.exe. When you find it, replace the entire path with just explorer.exe and it should be fine upon reboot.
In Win2k, its' much easier to modify and deal with (for one thing, despite what the installer thins, you can change the shell w/o restarting), as you can separate it by user (which will also help if you want to use Litestep at work for whatever reason...keep a main account w/ explorer :)).
