-> ...PaintingMode
xPaintTexture needs a PaintingMode line. I assume it is missing in your setup.

i have my xpaintingmodes set for xtaskbar, xtray, xlabel already.
Is there anything else?
What I am trying to achieve is have the overlaybutton OVER the icons... this works in 1.4.1, but not any later. It seems not even 1.5 works at all. The overlaybutton appears in all versions, but the overlay image is behind the icons, but above the button image.
Any ideas?

That "feature" ("t" flag in OverlayButtons) was removed long ago in the 1.x versions, because painting an image over the icon and text is most of the time silly.
Sorry.

Maybe make the Icons and Text AlphaTransparent instead!?

Silly? SILLY?
Please re-add it! :(
There is an infinite amount of cool things that can be done with this!
For example, having a target crosshair over an icon, or even something like this -> http://ashtefere.deviantart.com/art/New-Litestep-Theme-Elysium-76360094
I need the overlay to make a 32px icon fit where only a 16px will.
In that screenshot I am using 1.4.2... would like to use 2.0.x

Since xTaskbar gets another(bugfix) update anyway, i'll readd the "t" flag. Check http://www.ls-universe.info for the release announcement.
