Litestep can't find files that are there Thread last updated on 2007-10-29 14:47:31

Ok, so installing litestep for the first time.

I'm running Vista Business 32, which from what I've read vista is fine. However whenever I start up Litestep it always sends me "Error: Could not locate module. Please check your configuration." for the following files:

taskbar3-0.306_alpha-3.dll
syscolor-2.3.dll
lsxcommand-1.8.5.dll

All of these files are in the appropriate folder that it says it's looking in, I've also tried the idea I saw of copying to the System folder.

If I try to change themes, instead I get that same error for the following files:

xpopup-1.3.1.dll
xlabel-3.6.2.dll
xtray-1.1.1.dll
xtaskbar-1.5.2.dll

and then it asks me if i want to revert to the default theme. If I say no, I'm stuck with nothing to work with at all.

I've tried running litestep in compatibility mode with XP, 2k, and 2k3 with no luck.

any ideas?

download and install "Litestep-Updater" from the downloads section.

I did, I used the Omar installer, then did the updater. Whenever I install a theme, it downloads all the files that it says it needs, but it does not find the same files that it just downloaded.

LucerinRed, are you from box?

I found that after updating the core I needed to download some more files.... msvcp70 and msvcr70 etc...Most of those would probably be in the updater though... (I've never used it). Maybe use dependancy-walker to see which DLL files are needed.

Xan, of course I'm from box.

I un-installed and re-installed for a third time and got it to work. Don't ask me what was different.

raptrex,
1. Open System by clicking the Start button -> Control Panel -> System and Maintenance-> System.
2. Click Advanced System Settings.
3. Under Performance, click Settings.
4. Click the Data Execution Prevention tab, and then click Turn off DEP
