netloadmodule2.dll exception Thread last updated on 2006-09-12 20:40:08

I have litestep up and running right now. I've had quite a heyday download every theme i can get my hands (or mouse, technically) on. One I came across was called Laser-Dock. I believe I downloaded it here too. Each theme I've come across has worked to some extent, but this theme throws the following error when I try to load it.

C:\litestep\nlm\netloadmodule2.exe : litestep.exe - application error
The exception Floating-point invalid operation (0xc0000090) occurred in the application at location 0x026395ea.

All required modules are loaded. The theme previously asked to download lslua (with nlm) and would crash when I told it to download. I downloaded the correct lslua package and unzipped it into my modules directory and the theme starts to load, then crashes with the previously stated error. I'm using Litestep 0.24.7 with the latest xPaintClass modules and dlls, and other themes using xPaintClass work fine. I installed with Omar's latest installer and this error would occur, then I reinstalled with Dist.ru's installer (for the sake of LSCP) and everything still works the same, and NLM2 still throws this error. Anybody know what's going on?

The problem with that theme is it suffers from spaghetticodeitis! :D

(Works fine for me. Try updating to the latest experimental build, and NLM 2.5.0

pshhhhhh, get the latest versions like xcal said, make sure you have the latest version of LaserDock (1.4).

It is still buggy yes, but only if your messing with stuff ;)

I did as suggested, but to no avail. At least now it loads (more or less) and only crashes on a click here or there. No worries though, fractaldesign, I promise to use it as soon as it stops crashing on me ;)

If you try to describe the errors, I might be able to fix them.

Well, it's always that same error. I can't decide why NLM would even be running, since all the modules are in place. Maybe it's when it tries to load lslua? That's the module I seemed to have problems with before, the one that would crash NLM when it tried to download it. I don't know what else to tell you. I'll see if trying to load lslua manually gives the error too. Let me know if you find anything out.

That means you tried it, but it didnt work, the suggested fix didnt help you.

Then lunisneko wrote:

:/ So the suggested fix didnt work, but there are positive results? O.o

So it didnt work, then had positive results, but your still getting that error!?! wtf is going on!?

NLM always loads the modules, even when they are "in place".
You may have lslua issues that are addressed here:
LaserDock 1.4 readme.txt
////////////////////////// IMPORTANT!!!

LSlua animation.lua.dll error fix (thanks xcal):

Just for future reference, you can fix that animation.lua.dll error by going in the NLM folder,
opening the NetLoadModule.ini and changing the lslua line to read...

lslua-(the ver#)=$litestepdir$modules\lslua-(the ver#)\lslua.dll

If I remember right, the end of that line will incorrectly be animation.lua.dll,
when it should be lslua.dll as above.

Alright, sorry for the confusion, let's see if I can explain a little better ^^

Originally (when I first installed the theme) litestep would present me with the dialog prompting for module download. It needed lslua. I would tell it to download and the icon would change colors (to yellow, I think, to represent that it was working on downloading and installing lslua) then would crash with the same error as above. I downloaded lslua manually and unpacked it into my modules directory. Then when I tried to load the theme, it would crash most of the way through the restart. I could see the two bars on the right side of the screen but they were only gray. Then I did like you suggested and downloaded the latest NLM (2.5.0) and the latest experimental build of Litestep, and retried. Now the theme will fully load (afaik) but if I try to click anywhere, it would crash. Now, for some reason, we have a totally different behavior. It loaded and worked for a bit but all the icons on the taskbar were... well... smooshed. They are stacked on top of each other with only about 5 pixels or so of the icons in the bottom of the stack visible, but all of the topmost ison visible. I can post a picture of this if you like, just say the word. I poked around the menus a bit and litestep froze and ate up 98% of my cpu. I'll keep investigating since I think this theme is beautiful, and I really do want to try it out more. :]

OK, thanks for the clarification :)

Dont use the experimental build, just use the official 0.24.7 FINAL build,
No I dont need a SS of the smooshed icons, I know what that looks like.

Try this:
Open up NLM\NetLoadModule.ini
make sure this line is in there somewhere: lslua-0.5=$litestepdir$modules\lslua-0.5\lslua.dll
if its not, add it.

Sorry its so buggy for you, its probably my lua coding (really bad)

P.S. Maybe you should format your paragraphs a little better ;P

so odd. yeah, the line is there. when i reverted to the o.24.7 final, it started crashing when it loads again, this time with an exception, instead of a floating-point error.

ah well. at least i got it to work partly. it's a beautiful theme ;)
