Hello all, this is the first time I've installed Litestep and been serious about it, so bear with me here.

I'm really wondering what to do now; I've replaced various things (file manager etc.) but I'm not entirely confident with modifying much...There is a theme I like but could see a million improvements to but I don't know where to start. Also how does one deal with bugs etc.?

When I try to edit .rc files through a file manager it says "access denied" which makes the concept of customisation quite a hard one.

Another is windows styling; I am aware that litestep is not a skinning program but having used the themeux fix I wonder where I get suitable skins from?

Thank you very much :)

to open files right click and open with then choose wordpad or notepad then check always open with so .rc files are associated with a text editor.

Google for windowblinds or stylexp to skin windows...

ah hah, ok. I found a tutorial site but all the links are dead. I'm wanting to start from nothing and make my own theme with modules I like etc. or at least know how to fix borked themes/make the modules work

(for example I'm using defaultx_noimg on the latest build of litestep, and the calender won't work properly, I can't set the weather location, etc.

Hmm, Rainy made the Rainlendar pretty hard to configure for someone making a noimg theme, so I ended up doing a lot of extra stuff to keep it looking in tact with the rest of the theme. In the next version I'm just going to make the Rainlendar setup with either Transparent backgrounds, or images.

I guess what I"m trying to say is, it's not really broken, it's suppose to be like that. As for the weather module, I'm not sure why it wouldn't work, unless you really don't have permission to edit the .rc files.

Yeah, I use xtextedit to modify rainlendar to match my theme (xmodule solid) colors. We need an xcalendar module, eh?

I hope rainy incorporates the xPaintclass in his next release, assuming he's still working on it.

I really wish I understood all of this! I want to but really don't know where to start.
