Hi,

Fist of all, I'n very newto LiteStep, so don't kill me right away. I've been playing with LS a couple of days now and tried some OST2 compliant themes, and Non | Step "feels" very logical to me.

I've been reading through all the .rc file to have textlabels on the various buttons, like "net", "file" etc.
I would like to get a textlabel explaining the functions under this button, e.g. "Internet/Email".

I've seen some funvtionallity with other themes but the "button"Name option in the themevars/shortcuts entry doesn't do much :|

So.... I must be doing something wrong. Anyone can help me on the right track here.

cheers,

rob

The net, file, and text buttons in that theme are just using an image for the text on them.

But, I think you might be talking about tooltips?

Either way:

\LiteStep\modules\docs\xlabel-3.1.2\xLabel_ReadMe.chm

How to do text on a label, and how to do tooltips, are both in the main "Configuration" section. (btw, xlabel is up to 3.5 now, but that theme is old, which is why I'm directing you to the 3.1.2 readme - the ver that theme uses.)

Lastly, the label options for that theme are in \nonstep II\config\bar.

Ah.. yes. sorry about that. Tooltips it is, english is not my first one ;)
The theme has been updated recently, and is using xlabel-3.1.2.
Found the doc in the zip file in the archives folder. Will have a read and a try.

Another quicky on the modules, can I simply replace older versions of a module with newer ones, or will that give more problems than it's worth having multiple versions for all the themes??

You can always try it...

Sometimes, between certain module versions, options are removed or have their syntax changed, so updating a module will not always work. Just be prepared to go to the default theme if it doesn't work (meaning, have your file manager open to your litestep folder).

(speaking from experience)

You might also want to keep a copy of the original .zip file you downloaded. Just in case something should go "wrong".

/I'm just sayin'

yes, that's always good advice :D
I already screwed up one theme, but learning a lot in the process about how things work. LiteStep is pretty amazing what can be done and themed.

LiteStep is pretty amazing what can be done and themed.

Indeed it is. Sometimes I feel a little sorry that I've become so used to it that I seldom think of what a magical app it is. Ah, well.

It's not *really* magic. It only themes that way.

Ok, I just read that like 6 times before I got it. "Themes" that way is very funny.
