Open Popup At Any Window With Command Thread last updated on 2006-02-13 16:03:34

I wanted to know if any of you knew a way that I could have minimal lightstep that allows me to open popup everywhere through a middle click command or possibly an alt click or something of the such.

I was also wondering if you can assign commands to unique buttons on the mouse?

In order to do it with a click action some part of LS would need focus. The easiest way to do it would be to assign it to the Windows keys so you can just press those.

As for assigning commands to unique buttons...yes it is possible but see above.

See the jdesk docs for how to define clicks on your desktop. (Note: there are some default settings already in \personal\personal.rc)

You can also use an external program like StrokeIt, which permits you to define actions for both gestures and various combinations of mouse buttons. You can define those actions to be LS bangs, expanding the types of interactions permitted with modules like jdesk and hotkey. You can have actions take place when the desktop doesn't have focus, for instance. Of course, I've also defined a hotkey to show the popup menu (well, several keys and several popups actually) like DeViLbOi said - that's the easiest LS-only way to do what you ask.
