Need help with something minor. Thread last updated on 2006-01-16 22:08:06

I am kinda new to litestep and in the last few days i have gotten almost everything I wanted to work in it. However there is one minor annoyance that I cant seem to find using the search function. It is rather stupid but let me try to describe it the best way I can.

When dragging files between files, I am uised to having to drag the file onto the start bar and the appropriate window would focus which makes the dropping process alot easier. This only apploes when I have one file i want to move in one windows explorer (the file manager) and i want to drop it off in another instance of a windows explorer. So isntead of lining up the two instances of the windows explorer so that i can drag and drop at once, is there a way to set it up so that I can drag the file to the windows explorer "box" in the start bar in austerity and make the other windows explorer bew focused.

haha. I hope that makes sorta sense. I am sorry if this has already been posted but i could not figure out the best way to word the search to find this result. Thanks...

I think you'd have to convert it to use xTaskbar. If I'm not mistaken, it's the only taskbar module that supports that.

Im going to go with "Does not compute! Does not computer!" Actually...If I understand right you want to be able to drag a file to a task in the taskbar and drop it on the task and have it copy. I don't think it is possible, especially in Austerity, but you may want to read the xtaskbar docs and see if it is possible there.

nono what i meant is. well.. lesee........

in the explorer shell, when you get a file and begin to drag a file into an "box" in the start bar.. like the item is still clicked with the mouse, the window which belongs to that "box" (what is that called) is focused. This is so that I can drop it off into the window that I want. This is sorta difficult to explain. ^_^

EDIT: I found that "DropDelay" is probably what I might be looking for but then I am not too sure.. I will figure out how to fiddle around with xtaskbar.

how confusing, your saying startbar (which makes me think of popup) but then talking about the window (which makes me think of taskbar)...

which one? The menu (with subfolder menu's) or the taskbar (that restores different application windows),

but I dont think any menu module supports drag and drop yet...

I think I get what he means. If you have a full screen window, and you want to drag something to another window, you can just drag it to the taskbar button of the other window to focus it for dropping. I know xTaskbar supports this, in the same way the explorer shell's taskbar does.
