Well, I'm completely new to litestep, but it looks great. I have a couple of troubleshooting questions.

1. Why do my themes not install properly? I put it into the themes folder, and then use the theme installer, but it doesn't find a theme file...

2. How can I add things to the quicklaunch bar itself? How can I add icons like recycling bin, my computer, etc.

3. Why do some themes get a bunch of error popups then ask "would you like to revert to default?"

4. And would you say that litestep would slow down a gaming computer, like if you do a lot of gaming and FPS matters, would you recommend having it?

Thanks much.

Make sure you're using only OTS2 themes and your #1 and #3 problems will probably go away.

The LSThemeInstaller is meant for themes that are zipped or in lsz (just a renamed zip) format.

How Litestep effects your computer resources will depend on the theme running, and the modules loaded.

1. Because it doesnt work like that (like xcal mentions). You can unzip the theme to your $ThemesDir$, make sure its all in the folder (there will be a theme.rc in it) then you can edit themeselect.rc with the new path.

2. Probably you could maybe add shortcuts in your quicklaunch folder directly (docs'n'settings)

3. The "Return to default" popup should always disply.
The errors are due to a poorely designed or bug tasted theme.

4. Some themes are so minimal they will increase performance (theoretically) and some so massive they will crash your comp if its too old.

Np.

You can actually get rid of the "return to default" by opening the lsthemeinstaller, clicking settings, and then unchecking the option.

On this site you can tell by looking where it says Distro.
