AutoHide Thread last updated on 2005-09-28 16:11:26

I can't seem to figure this out. I've tried adding the following code to various files, and they have no effect.

AutoHideTaskbar = 1
AutoHideDelay = 500

I can't add this to taskbar.dll, because it just comes up as symbol salad. What am I missing here?

You don't edit .dll files, you edit .rc files. =) The .rc files are what tell the the modules (.dll files) to do.

I'm assuming you're editing someone's theme? Look in the theme's config folder for something like taskbar.rc and open that in a text editor.

I've done that, but it has no effect. I've added the lines to taskbar.rc, but they don't work. Any ideas?

What taskbar module are you using?
Are you sure there is an "AutoHide" setting for the module?

The best advice: Read the module documentation

Did and done. There's either the AutoHideTaskbar command or !TaskbarToggle, which I'm guessing requires a mouseover command. I honestly have no clue what to do here, I just want it to friggin' autohide.

You're using a theme that uses this module I'm guessing? What's the theme name? I'll take a look when I have a chance tomorrow.

Yes, I believe that is the taskbar I'm using. The theme name is austerity, I believe. It's the default that comes with the litestep install file.

Oooh Austerity. That uses taskbar3. That module doesn't support an autohide feature. I think the best you're going to do with Austerity is just use its enable/disable bar option, but it has to be done manually.

Crap. Any suggestions on a better theme/module? If I don't get my autohide soon, I might do something drastic. >_o

Designed4 v2.0 is a rockin theme. I used to use it (previous version) before I could do my own themes. It supports autohiding everything. Also, there's HideNSeek 2. It doesn't have the flare of Designed4, but it has a different setup/flavor to it.
