Problem with LS Folder being Read-Only. Thread last updated on 2005-09-24 14:58:48

For some reason, my computer made my Litestep folder (the entire thing, including everything in it) read-only, thereby keeping my from editing any of the files or changing the theme in any way. Furthermore, when I try to change it from being read-only it SEEMS to change, only to change back when I close the properties folder. I don't know if it's an issue with Litestep, or with my computer, but I'm totally baffled. Any ideas?

Did you just restore your litestep folder from a CDR/RW by chance?

Have you tried reinstalling litestep from scratch?

No, I installed from the internet. I haven't tried reinstalling, but I'd obviously like to avoid that if I can. The other thing is that it hasn't always been like this, but changed itself somehow.

Do you have permission on the folder/s?

Change the read only from an admin account ;)

If you're having the same problem I just encountered:

Not being able to open *.rc files and receiving an error message saying I was denied access to the file,

I fixed it by:

1. Right-click a *.rc file
2. Select Properties
3. Change program Opens with... to Notepad
4. Select Apply

Hopefully this is the same problem, and we can both be happy happy happy!

Could be the same issue infinit, but this sounds different (if indeed it is a read-only problem, and not a file-association problem)...

1. Right-click the litestep folder
2. Select Properties
3. REMOVE the checkmark beside readonly. if its not there, check it and then uncheck it as some files inside the folder may or may not be readonly, this would set them all the same.
4. Select Apply/OK.

this should be all you need
