Litestep really **** up my computer! Thread last updated on 2004-08-07 18:34:54

Litestep was installed on my computer and I thought it was great until when I next turn on my PC and was met with the message "C:/LITESETP/Litestep.exe could not be found, Please reinstall Windows"

I don't consider myself to be a novice with computers but since this happed, I have been struggling to find out how to solve it. I cant access my computer anymore. It has caused me to loose more than 2 years of work on my computer, including songs, photos, everything, and to be quite honest, I pretty pissed off with Litestep as a whole.

I don't care if anyone writes in connection with this message, but I needed to get all of this off my chest.

win9x? if so and you didn't actually reformat/reinstall windows boot into DOS mode (hit F8 after POSTing) and at the prompt
> edit c:\windows\system.ini
and under section [boot] set shell=Explorer.exe (or correct the path).

I don't know if you're sarcastic above but you have forward slashes instead of backslashes and a glaring typo :)

I think all the LS converts I tried to make actually reinstalled windows even after I told them of this emergency fix before having them install LS (this is long ago BTW in the days of manual installation).
:/

I really hope you typo'd that dir, because if you set it up manually... well chances are that's your problem right there.

Anyway do that tnl said, he's sm-rt.

Love the glaring typo's. They make this post look even better. Do us all a favor and please switch back to explorer and never think of LiteStep ever again.

@Tono, If you loosed "...more than 2 years of work on my computer, including songs, photos, everything..." then... like DeViLbOi said, you should turn back to "explorer". Couldn't you simple reinstall windows above your current installation?
I think you didn’t take the time to read what you should do! There are many docs for LiteStep! You could use an installer!
… And this thread is in the wrong place!

You should have RTFM before installing it. Then you'd have known that your PC isn't screwed at all. Just change one simple line in your system.ini (as tnl said) and you're back to explorer.
