My friend is encouraging me to download this program. I run on a Windows ME laptop, and I want to change my boring crappy grey theme. He is telling me that it will freeze, crash, and not even startup! I don't want to take these risks, all I want is to download a theme and apply it. Can someone help me out?

being told a program will freeze, crash, and not even startup doesn't sound like the best encouragement i've heard.

grab the installer from http://beyondconvention.net/ohussain/lsinstaller/index.htm
then grab some themes you like
and you're set!

When I was running win9x back in the day litestep really helped improve the stability of my system.

That said if you do break something it is a bit more of a hassle to fix it then just hitting ctrl alt del like win2k/xp, so make sure you understand how to uninstall it manually if you do horribly break something so you won't worry if you do.

BTW, did you friend encourage you to get litestep and then say that it will crash? I'm confused... and ps you might want to look into upgrading operating systems away from WinME.
