Theme vs. Suite Thread last updated on 2004-01-20 01:36:02

Can someone please advise. I don't really bother with changing my themes, but I found one I like. Then I went to PixStudio and downloaded a "suite", which I had hoped would enhance my theme even further. I am not sure if I am getting the terminology screwed up. The "suite" I downloaded was just a 2KB file. It also has a .php extension. What do I do with this? Does it sound like I got the whole suite?

Thanks for any help.

sounds like you downloaded the webpage that the suite was hosted on. normally a suite contains window skins, cursors, wallpapers, sounds, etc.

? never heard of something like it. maybe you just downloaded the php file which contains the link to the actual file. sometimes some browsers have problems with some web links.

doh, 2 minutes 2 late :D

OK, you were right ElkMonster. I was using Secure IE to attempt the download and it was downloading the html instead of the actual .exe.

What is the difference between a skin and a theme? It seems themes are easier to download and switch back and forth in, but I am finding lots of skins I like but no where can I find how to load them within the theme.

Can you offer any help here?

it sounds like you're confused about something. there are not litestep themes and skins, only themes. and litestep itself can only load litestep themes, it can not load Trillian skins, Opera skins, WindowBlind skins, etc. there's a litestep utility (lsts) that used to allow us to set a wallpaper, set a windowblinds skin, and a couple other things, but it hasn't been in wide use since 24.7 came out.

omar's litestep theme installer can do many of those things... it only comes with the installer though as far as i know

If my memory serves me correct, that *.php is for a different shell, DesktopX, I think, I downloaded the shell last year and it used up too much resources and it cost $$$.

.php is a web based programming language very similar to C. it is NOT a shell ext.
