okay here is my problem. im sure youve all tried to help me before but what was suggested never actually resolved my problem.

my problem is that there are no programs in my quicklaunch menu in the theme that i am currently using, which is nonstep. i went to my quicklaunch folder and have added programs one by one but it was ineffective. they work fine when using not using this theme but i want to know why it doesnt work for nonstep.

im running windows xp professional and do no know what to do. i just want to resolve this minor set back because it troubles me to go through my entire list of programs just to start up something that i use on a daily basis. desperately in need of some assistance thank you.

ps. here ive inserted a picture of what it looks like. thanks again.

without even looking at the theme I am going to guess that the theme does not use the QuickLaunch folder you are thinking of and that the proper folder is either documented in the ReadMe or that its really easy to find in the step/theme.rc

oh i released that. sooooory. look in the theme. at the end as i remember. there will be a popup menu configuration with $LIteStepDir$Shortcuts\ .... replace that with $QuickLaunch$... that should work... else mail me and i will clear the problem... ;)

you cant link directly to images (or any other file) on geocities... put that image in your index.html file

or change the file extension to .txt (which you can link to)
IE (not tried it with firebird) will recognise it's meant to be an image and display it accordingly :-)

here is what the popup.rc shows in OTS2.
IF NOT Win95
*Popup "Quicklaunch" "!DynamicFolder:$QuickLaunch$*.lnk"
ENDIF

that means it will show all the entries in the QuickLaunch menu which are shortcuts. i.e lnk files. so i dont think there should be any problems. it works fine for me. where are u adding the shortcuts to?

ok this is strange. whats the path to your QuickLaunch folder that u are adding the shortucts to? make sure u are adding them in the right place.
This problem occurs only in this theme?
what cmd line? ;)

Posted by member 85975 on 2003-12-15 21:34:40 link

okay here is the path that i use to put my shortcuts in...

C:\Documents and Settings\JP\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch

and yes this problems only occurs with this theme. i really dont understand why is is happening. many people made helpful suggestions but they never resolved the problem. and as for that command line...

IF NOT Win95
*Popup "Quicklaunch" "!DynamicFolder:$QuickLaunch$*.lnk"
ENDIF

what does it do if i add it to my popup.rc?? just curious...it was another suggestion made but not tested. thanks again i really appreciate your help, greatly.

type
!alert "$Quicklaunch$"

into lsxcommand and paste here exactly what it says

Posted by member 85975 on 2003-12-20 12:58:15 link

is lsxcommand an .rc file?? i cant seem to find it. i see a folder that with this name but that is all.

Posted by member 1340 on 2003-12-20 13:14:45 link

lsxcommand is the litestep module which allows u to execute bangs. its the place where u write stuff in. similar to a command line or a command prompt. its in the bar of the theme. look a little. type what doy said in that and hit enter. tell us the path that is then show exactly.

okay heres what it says...

C:\Documents and Settings\JP\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Qcuick Launch\

soo thats what it says. again thank you for your help.

Posted by member 85975 on 2003-12-22 15:45:23 link

doy do you know how to fix this??

Posted by member 36955 on 2003-12-22 18:23:44 link

does it actually say "Qcuick Launch" with that extra c in there?

Posted by member 85975 on 2003-12-31 20:06:06 link

actually it doesnt...sorry for the late response. my dsl has been down for a while. heres what it says actually...

C:\Documents and Settings\JP\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\

hopefully you know what to do from here cause i sure as hell dont. thanks again doy.

Posted by member 182 on 2004-01-01 12:11:49 link

ok.
so the $quicklaunch$ variable litestep is using points to that folder.

do you have shortcuts in that folder?
if you do, they should display.

i'm thinking since the path has spaces in it, you might need to add quotes (") around the $quicklaunch$ entry in your popup menu.

Posted by member 85975 on 2004-01-21 08:20:38 link

can you restate that in a more simpler fashion. im new to this, sorry. thanks again though.

Posted by member 39367 on 2004-01-21 21:07:21 link

lol, he means if your shortcuts are in that folder you just told us then they should show up. You may need to add quotes around somehting er rather i dont really know what he meant either.

Posted by member 1340 on 2004-01-22 03:35:11 link

dewL :: what psynapse meant is that have you checked that the shortcuts are present in the folder u mentioned. and in the popup entry put " around the var.
i.e "$QuickLaunch$" ... see if that helps/// is this happenening even wth the new NonStep release ?
