is there anyway to use flash graphics as a desktop front end. kinda like a web page as a desktop? i think it would be really cool cause you could make your own animated menus background and a crap load of other things. i don't know a whole lot about this kinda stuff, just seems like a coll idea. i'm learning flash right now and you can do some pretty cool things with it.

explorer's active desktop can do that.
since this is a litestep forum though, i'll assume you mean under litestep (:

in that case, you might want to try searching loose-screws.com for 'flash' or 'shockwave' .. i'm fairly sure there's a litestep module to show flash content.

there's oborzevatel, which *Displays a browser window on your desktop.*

At one time there was a whole shell built in Flash...you may wanna see if you can find that.

i think shellfront has a few releases of it saved.

I'd go sryo's method. Use oborzevatel to create a browser window that spans your entire desktop, and have that browser window load
file:////filename.swf

..should work exactly as you intend :) Also, using the program "!.exe" (available in the shellfront litestep modules section, even though it's a program not an executable) you can have the flash file call !Bang commands.

actually, !.exe's functionality was included in the core, you can use "litestep.exe !bang"

How stable is oborzevatel and is it still in development?

havent tried it yet, but it's a new module (couple of weeks old), so i believe it's still being developed.
