Dowloading modules? Thread last updated on 2003-11-24 10:59:17

I have a realy strange router that dosent alow me to change which ports that should be open. And it blocks the port that Litestep uses to download the moduels (thats what I asume anyway)

I can not download any of the moduels in the list, and I have tryed more then one skin. Is there any other way to download modules??

Maybe a file with all modules in it if they are not to many/big?

there are thousands of LiteStep modules out there so a single file is unrealistic. You can download the files from ShellFront and Loose-Screws and put them in the proper folders and it works fine. As far as I know with NLM it uses port 80 to download the files so it shouldn't be an issue with the router...but maybe a bad download location configured in personal.rc.

I have just installed LiteStep earlier today and it came with the austerity 1.0.4 skin. So it shouldent be any problems in personal.rc (I hope).

And if there is something wrong. How can I fix it??

edit your personal.rc and alter the NetLoadModuleSite or whatever it is.

http://modules.shellfront.org

should work

Sorry... But I am new in this program. And you would need to be more specific.

And I dident find any NetLoadModuleSite in the personal.rc

The closes thing that I found is.

;--> load hotkey module
IF NOT ThemeIsOTS1Compliant
*NetLoadModule jkey-0.37
ENDIF

And you would need to say what changes I need to do. That file could as well be written in greek :)

NetLoadModuleSite can be found in the step.rc in your litestep main root

Clearly firebird_21 used the litestep installer. His step.rc entries are definitely correct (barring some new, bizarre bug, but I really doubt it) and need no adjustment. ;)

unless he downloaded the older one and root changed the dir structure to force people to use modules.sfo

IIRC, root told me that there wouldn't be any change in the physical directory structure on his site, 'modules.shellfront.org' simply helps him to track bandwidth usage. :)

Might be proxy settings for IE, or some sort of download manager. Or the firewall might be blocking shellfront completely.

If shellfront is blocked, try adding loose-screws:
*NetLoadModuleSite "http://loose-screws.com/download.php?netloadmodule="
(if it's not already there)

If that doesn't work either... manually download the modules someplace and point NLM at the local path.

hhm...when i used DAP (Download Accelerator Plus) i could not d/l modules over the NetLoadModule. So if you have DAP or any other d/l program test and uninstall it, it might work. But I dunno if this is your problem, but when i had the same problem i fixed it liket his. (sry my bad english)

Thx for all the sugestins. I problably have some sort of firewall in my router that blocking it.

But I am not going to download that many themes anymore (am making my own). So i can download the moduels that I need manually.
