can be a themer or coder :)
just to have some statics about the 40000+ litestep users
i've been an active litestepper starting from this year, but i was introduced to ls couple of years ago. then there was no ots or installers and i was pretty young so the learning curve was a little too steep, but now i don't imagine myself using explorer as the shell.
bit over two years. actually started with 24.5--occasionally i get this urge to just install new software without doing any research and see if it works out of the box. it did, (AFTER i figured out--all by myself ;p--how to resore it from the 'you must reinstall windows' screen) but it was ugly, so i did some reading, upgraded, and got some themes from the old purple ls.com. (i still remember staring at those hundreds of screenshots thinking, "good lord, there's over four hundred different styles here...i can make my desktop look however i want it to...) eventually started theming, began three but only released one. currently running tnl's 'xij' (slightly modified) on 24.7b3, winxp pro. i never run explorer unless i'm also running lsxcommand, hotkey, popup, and dynamp on top of it.
I can safely say that nobody in here has used LS for 6 years. To use LS fot 6 years you needed to come in with LSB3 or earlier.

da** it.... all tim I write something and submit, it kills my thread or logs me off..
I have a PC since I'm 19... half a year later I took Litestep. So it is more than 5 jears and less than 6
im a 6 year one.... 1997 i was introduced to it... had it workin.. worked great.. used it then the litestep.com arguements were happinen and alot went on so i dropped out of it..... but got back into it in 2000 for about a year.. now i am back to it.. i like the fixes and some of the modules... i love the incinerator module.. fits in my wharf so nice and works great....
dayum lookin at that chart... HP Dashboard in 1992!?!?!?!?
I used that too.. that is why i liked litestep when i saw it... it was great...but litestep is better
99, couldn't understand it at first, i hated the default theme, but someone showed me Lowdimension, a theme made by lowspirit (currently working on sharpe) and loved it.
we need to accept that OTS was a really good idea, after that, themes came with litestep inside the zip, you didn't can choose between themes :P
@AngelKnight I still can remember this time *lol* was hard, but I rewrote also in that time themes so I only had to change the step.rc file in the main root folder *loool* hard times for user *lol* nearly every theme a giant wharf ... does anyone in here knows chaos???? my first Theme I used longer than 2 weeks *gg*... or what about LCARS..... the idea was fantastic, but realy nothing to work with *lol*
TeleFragger: Considering B3 wasn't a public release and the first public release happened a year later I find you off a bit unless you were just friends with Lone and well...that would be a bit rare.
Ive been fooling around with litestep for a few months, heh.
hmmm maybe u r right.. i do remember using it in 1997 cuz i was in texas for 4 months then when i got back in november a guy showed me it... the theme he was running had the ripple background with that silver outline of a chick like you would see on a mudflap.... :)
anyhow.. that is the timeframe so yeah i dont remember what version.. but i do have it on cd somewhere at home.. :)
ill have to dig it up...
im still trying to get this theming thing down..... doesnt seem to want to work for me... im not good at litestep... just try....
I started with .24.4 and never switch back to explorer
Explorer disapears from my computer since I found LS 0.24.4
hmm...pardon me, how do we know that there is 40000+ litestep user in the world?
good question, im just guided for the quantity of registered users in ls.net :)
I've only been using LS since near the beginning of the year. But I had fantasised about creating my own theme for a year or two before that. Explorer lacks basic ergonomics for an interface. I had searched for other shells but Desktop X was all I found. At the beginning of the year one of my favourite PC magazines did a special on alternative shells. LS was the first I tried since the price was right. LS was so perfect I never bothered looking at the others.
i am using it since i know of it. obviously betwen 3 - 5 yrs. Blueheart was the first godly theme i ever used. hehe long time... that theme still is the best... cool. totally.
i remember AnzRomeo themes
thats was cool in 0.24.4
:P
Yeah, I was introduced to LS in grade 10/11 by a buddy of mine, in circa 1998 (heh) so it's been a few years, but then I moved out, went to college and didn't have a system it would run on, then baught my own system, ran explorer for a week until I found a LS download, and haven't used explorer (except on a fresh format, and have to install LS). I've been themeing for myself for a while, but haven't finished anything (yet, soon... very soon).
addicted since 1998.
inspired by ls, even tried to delete explorer.exe completelly -- lol, may it be safer in the future :) .
inspired again, found in $windir$ some other garbage (welcome.exe, tuneup.exe, tour98.exe, ask-for-more) of great importance to the system.
LoneRunnr (at least) deserves a monument!
