I usually just hit WIN+R to get the RUN menu up, then I hold SHIFT and !Recycle Litestep, thereby bringing up the "Litestep Paused" box. I then click OK back in the RUN menu, and run any game perfectly without those problems you are experiencing (and I did too). Once you're done your game, simply click "OK" and Litestep will come back.
