So far I'm also on the impression that the video card doesn't have much to say on this, as the bug existed on Matrox G400 when I still possessed one (back in 2001).
With my usage, the problem is not so much about video players, as MPC and BSPlayer can handle almost everything, but sometimes other kinds of enviroments want to view video, and for example the plugins in web pages etc. stay dead no matter what I do. This creates annoying situations where I can't access what I want to see.
West: Actually I have an ATI video card, Radeon 9600 to be exact. I am quite satisfied with ATI as a manufacturer, though. Other than this, they work fine.
