I have an alike problem (which might as well be caused by the exactly same things).
Under LS, some video playing programs such as PowerDVD fail to be able to show the video and instead display a solid black window frame instead. Disabling VWM does not help and I have no idea whatsoever on how to circumvent this.
I suspect that this has something to do with how the programs handle their overlay options, as video players with more generous options on their settings do allow me to view my video. So far BSPlayer has managed to work properly, along with Media Player Classic. The standard WMP and PowerDVD fail.
