I'd say what bothers me most is people splitting hairs over the 'correct terms.' Such comments only ensure that new users feel even more frustrated. When someone says 'skin', all us experienced users know exactly what the user means, so where is the problem? What sort of confusion does this generate? How is the term "theme" any more appropriate than "skin"? How is a Winamp 5 'skin' so different from a LiteStep 'theme'? What quality of a LiteStep 'theme' makes it closer to the true definition of the word "theme"? Winamp:Skin?

Secondly, try Googling "lite definition". You will find two definitions of the word: a) a pane of glass b) a suffix denoting a product which is reduced in some manner, a misspelling of the word "light" Now, lets think about why this misspelling has penetrated into popular culture? Marketing. This word never truly existed untill someone decided that using a child's misspelling of a proper-english term would perhaps differentiate their product from the masses.

In the end, I think we would be much better spending our time trying to determine why we let such trivial things bother us. Perhaps you should consider the effect of such incomprehensible acronyms as imho, imo, lmao, lol, rtfm, etc.

Don't get me wrong, I take pride in making my instant messages as incomprehensible as I can, fabricating my own new alternate spellings of more than 60% of what I type. I just think people should learn to take a little bit of a step back and have a look at themselves, and ask why they think/behave the way they do, whether good or bad. Then again, I'm a cognitive psychology freak.
