Try changing this lines to:
*NetLoadModule jdesk-0.711
*NetLoadModule ckvwm-1.40
see what happens.
If the problem remains add this lines to the ckvwm.rc:
VWMUseInitialDesk
VWMInitialDesk #1
and change:
VWMNoGathering true to false
