You could also:
1)download icondesk version 0.68 zip from loose-screws to a temp directory
2)unzip
3)read the readme
4)copy and paste icondesk.dll to the modules directory(this mod dll has no version)
5)add to your theme.rc: *NetLoadModule icondesk
6)configure the module.
7)save & recycle.

Cerbie's way is the right way, this is just a fun way.
