guru's: why do you like/hate simplicity? Thread last updated on 2003-05-19 02:37:23

I'm using simplicity and learning about litestep with it. I kind of like it.
However, it's installed as default by litestep, so that makes me wonder if this is really a n00b theme. I've looked at other themes, but maybe I'm missing something: they don't seem to be more advanced then simplicity at all..

So tell me guru's/experts: are you guys using different themes just because you don't like the looks of simplicity, or is this theme really to simplistic !!! ;-)

I use themes that look good and can do what I want them to do.

Graphically Simplicity looks simple but it's loaded with features. Most of them you won't know about until you read the readme. It's a great theme and is not nearly as simple as most.

I've used Simplicity up until I made my own. It's a great theme but I wanted something that used less real-estate and worked with multi-monitors. Also I didn't like having to switch through the module queue.

it more or less shows what litestep can do

two years ago, i found litestep on a cd. there was themes, but i went on making my own the same week. Since, i'm only using themes i'm playing with. never try simplicity

okay.. well, i'm learning litestep now by modifying simplicity to my own needs. I guess that's exactly what it was intended for. It does require some real-estate, and you're right about the module queue.
But i'm glad to hear that the theme is as advanced as any theme might be.

I've never used simplicity. When I first started out, I used another theme, modifying it to suit my needs. But onceI started building my own, I've never gone back.

It has some features, but what makes litestep litestep is the ability to exercise your own creativity. I like the minimalist approach, myself. My current theme has a desktop sized at 0, 0 and -0, -0. The whole screen. I have a little bar with a clock, winamp controls, an lsxcommand window, a button I can hit for my popup, a button I can hit for my current tasks, and a systray that grows and shrinks. The whole thing fits within the title bar of an active window when it is maximized.

So, I suppose I don't use simplicity because it is not simple enough!

yea simplicity is a rad theme (props to omar) but it's really not my style.

too flat and not my style of theme setup. that's why i don't use it.
