I would really like a !bang to display the logoff menu in winxp. that's the one which has both logoff and switch user buttons on it.
you can find an image of it here.

EDIT:
I just created this for ya, so you better feel special. I kinda like it, might even use it myself. The buttons are now fully animated (hover and click).

lovely, mr. white :) a shutdown version too, maybe?

As far as I know, there are no bangs right now to restart or shutdown. I might be wrong. When I can figure something out, I will make one.

SHAMELESS COPY AND PASTE FROM VIRTUALPLASTIC.NET http://www.virtualplastic.net/html/misc_cut.html (THOUGHT THIS WAS IMPORTANT AND SHOULD BE HERE TOO):

Enter this command line:
rundll32 user.exe,exitwindows
..to exit Windows easily,

rundll32 user.exe,ExitWindowsExec
..to restart Windows,

rundll32 shell32.dll,SHExitWindowsEx 2
..to reboot the computer, and..

rundll32 shell32.dll,SHExitWindowsEx
..to log off the current user (without the confirmation question).
Those are for 9x (95, 98, Me). XP has shutdown.exe, also available in NT and 2k resource kits:
%windir%\system32\shutdown.exe -r
would be a reboot. Some useful attributes:
-r = shuts down and restarts;
-f = forces processes to terminate;
-l = shuts down all running processes, then logs off;
-s = shuts down to a point at which it is safe to turn off power;
-h = help.

Also note the "-t xx" attribute (thanks Clockwise). Default shutdown has a countdown of 30 seconds, with this you can change that ("-t 00" being zero).

Hope it helps you Mr. White, and DeViLbOi, if you think i should leave only the link to virtualplastic tell me and i'll remove the rest.

Yeah I found that too. Im still lookin for a standby thing. I'll probably have this up later today (5/19).

OK, shutdown is now included in the .zip. These are XP/NT only. Might make a win9x one later on down the line if I get requests.

does it support hibernate mode? (--> hold shift key while at the shutdown dialogue)

OK. Now a Win95/98/ME version is included in the .zip. I'm not sure if it works, since I have no way to test it. If somebody would please test it and post the results, that would help a lot. If it doesn't work, I will fix it.

hyperhunter:
You can make it so that the standby button will do hibernate instead. But it is one or the other. It does whatever you have set in "Control Panel / Power Options / Advanced / When I press the sleep button on my computer."

Thanks for the info syro! I use a little program to do that, but it was really not necesary ;). I haven't been able to test the command lines you quote since I'm downloading some big files right now, but probably they will work, so thanks ;)

And also some time ago I made a shutdown window dialog based on the XP shutdown GUI, so here it is my version with some differences on the colours of the buttons:

lsShutdownXP.zip (26Kb)
Screenshot.

Also with hover/changing colour buttons effect ;)

PS: It's in spanish, but you can change the texts.

Mr. White had no problems...can you email me what you tried to do to make the links?

Posted by member 21413 on 2003-05-20 13:20:26 link

Yep I know, that's why I believe I'm doing something wrong, but don't know what :(, cos I have no problems with a single url per post.

Allready mailed the post.

Thanks.
