Explorer not refreshing Thread last updated on 2003-07-23 05:41:51

I've been using LiteStep for a few months now, and finally have my theme just the way I like it. I've tried other file managers and also other browsers, but finally have come to rest on the classic Explorer/IE combination.
The one problem I've run into is that the Explorer file manager does not refresh, say if I delete or rename some files, unless I hit F5. It's starting to bother me, as I really liked Explorer's original behavior.
Any ideas why this would happen?

so when you rename a file, it doesn't register the change until you refresh the instance of explorer? is that what you mean?

i've never had this problem before i don't think.

If you are running Win2k you might want to take a look at
this thread. It might solve it.

Make sure you don't have "LSSetAsShell" set somewhere. And check out the link gieron posted.

Mojomonkey, the change actually happens, it just doesn't show up in the explorer window until I hit F5.

D'oh, I installed that darned hotfix, so I'll try gieron's thread! And I don't have "SetAsShell" anywhere, either, but thanks anyways, it got me to make sure of that.

Woohoo! The shell32.dll replacement worked! Thanks for pointing me in that direction, gieron!

Although this should go on a windows FAQ ;)

not necessarily since it's a litestep issue, not a windows (with explorer) issue.

Is there a fix for this with XP? I've been having the same problem but have been reluctant to try this fix considering it's for 2k

I decided to use an alternative free browser which has a lot of nice features anyway. 2XExplorer
Seems to work fine for now.
