I have the basic shape of my theme now and I have quite a bit of images but I would like to give them more depth. Does anyone know of any good imaging tutorials or even some good imaging software? Right now I'm using paint and it leaves a lot to be desired.

paint.. heh. I use photoshop. You can usually bevel and use shadows to make everything look deeper. I learned everything I know about photoshop from tutorials. There is a lot of info at http://www.designsbymark.com, but his new site design doesn't have nearly the same amount of tutorials. You should be able to find some really good tutorial links from the forums there I'd guess.

So far PhotoShop has devastated me. Its way too complicated but i guess i'll get the hang of it. it has given my graphics more depth... I'm just not sure it's the type of depth i wanted.

Well there are other applications out there for image work, paint shop pro or the gimp come to mind. I personally like them both, and they did their work for me nicely.

The best way (in my opinion) to start getting used to photoshop is to find some low/no requirement tutorials and just follow them through step by step. After a few of those, you start learning what the tools do and how to get around.

Here's a list of web sites I've used to learn how to create specific effects using Photoshop. Slittle is right, run through a few tutorials and you'll soon know Photoshop backwards.
