1) Is there any way to make the icons on my desktop invisible. I didn't have any before but when I installed Litestep I had icons on my desktop.

2) Is there any way to group the tabs of my windows?

That is all, for now. Thanks for your time!

Another question. My IM tabs don't flash anymore when someone sends me an IM. I'm using GAIM. Is there any way to solve this?

2) Yes, tabs. To the right of the start menu. Know what I'm talking about?

3) Could you please tell me how.

Ok, I found out how to take away the desktop icons. Now all I need to do is make the taskbar tabs flash. Anyone know how? I changed the colour in taskbar3.txt but that didn't work.

i think you're referring to taskbar and those "tabs" are tasks :)
anyway, if you mean grouping them like in winxp, then no. there's no such module i know of.

Ahhh, tasks. Thanks for correcting me :) That's not a big deal though. The tasks are small and don't take up much room. :)

Argh, one more question. Does CTRL+ALT+DEL work?

Posted by member 1 on 2003-04-26 11:20:06 link

Have you tried pressing it? wth!?

Posted by member 27923 on 2003-04-28 21:53:16 link

Ok, I still can't get my tasks to flash. I've changed the colour in taskbar3.txt and did !Recycle, didn't work. I commented

*TaskbarNoFlash (accepts multiple entries)
------------------------------------------

but put a ; in front of it and that didn't work. Any know what to do?

You turn flashing on and set a flash color?

Posted by member 27923 on 2003-04-28 22:17:09 link

TaskButtonFlash
----------------------
Use flash skins for the buttons of updated tasks.
default : TRUE

TaskbarFlash
---------------------
Sets the color to be used when an inactive window is updated.
default : 8E8E8E

Yup. =\

I did the command !TaskbarScrollFlashOn and that didn't do anything either.

Posted by member 1 on 2003-04-28 22:47:40 link

they may have default values but do they appear in your step?

Posted by member 27923 on 2003-04-28 22:51:45 link

Not to sure. I don't beleive so. There's nothing with the word "flash" in it.

Posted by member 1 on 2003-04-28 23:21:33 link

there is your problem. In order for a setting to use the default value it must at least appear in the step. So if you want them to blink add those two settings to your step.

so as my boss would say...if it doesn't appear in the step, it doesn't happen. Gotta remember...most of us hate the stupid blinking crap.

Posted by member 27923 on 2003-04-28 23:28:15 link

Ahhh. Makes sense.

So, under Module Config in my step, I should add;

$ModulesDir$taskbar3.dll

Is that right?

Posted by member 27923 on 2003-04-28 23:30:56 link

LoadModule "$ModulesDir$taskbar3.dll" is under LoadModule config. How come that doesn't make it work?

Posted by member 27923 on 2003-04-28 23:52:46 link

Ooo, should I put a ; before LoadModule "$ModulesDir$taskbar3.dll"?

Posted by member 1 on 2003-04-28 23:54:29 link

no...you need to add those statements you posted above in your step somewhere...preferably with the other taskbar setting definitions.

Posted by member 27923 on 2003-04-28 23:59:03 link

Ok I put include "$ModulesDir$taskbar3.dll" under module config, did a !Recycle and it still doesn't work. :(

Posted by member 1 on 2003-04-29 00:19:02 link

then you still didn't add the settings you needed to.

Posted by member 27923 on 2003-04-29 22:02:04 link

Ok, I got it to work. It wasn't anything with the step.rc. But anyways, where would I go to change the colour of the flash? It's not in taskbar3.txt or syscolor

Posted by member 1 on 2003-04-29 23:10:49 link

you can't even read your own damn posts...

TaskbarFlash
---------------------
Sets the color to be used when an inactive window is updated.
default : 8E8E8E

Posted by member 27923 on 2003-04-29 23:13:05 link

Yea man. I know about that. But that's the colour being used. The colour being used is E0E0E0. And obviously you can't read my previous post. I said clearly it's not in taskbar3.txt.

Posted by member 1 on 2003-04-30 00:33:59 link

taskbar3.txt is a doc file...it does not contain settings. Settings are found in .rc files. check all of the includes...check all the steps...its in there somewhere otherwise it wouldn't be working.

*boggle*

I'm having a related problem. I got my tasks to change color when they're updated, but they don't blink, they just change color and then stay that color. Is there a way to make them flash on and off?

Also, it seems to be a bit sensitive. I pretty much only want the flashing for my IM program. It flashes mIRC when nothing even happened and I don't have flashing enabled in that program. It flashes my browser when a page is loading. It's a bit much.

Neither of these things are really a big deal, but it'd be nice if I could fix them.

And sorry about making a new thread earlier.. I searched for everything I could think of and didn't find my answer. Maybe I'm just stupid or something.

zeeeg: I get the same thing. I use X-Chat so it doesn't flash when that's updated. But when Winamp goes to the next song it's updated. As for flashing, I'm not sure. I'm pretty sure you can code it in somehow. You'd have to ask a pro for help probaly.

Posted by member 1783 on 2003-05-02 00:44:00 link

in taskbar3.dll there's TaskbarUseTrueFlashing, but that's a little buggy.

Posted by member 27923 on 2003-05-02 18:38:34 link

I went under taskmodes to turn TaskBarFlash on.

LOL, editing the txt-files...

don't mean to be rude, but... you know.
