Start menu missing when turning off litestep Thread last updated on 2003-05-04 16:10:04

I've come across an interesting situation to say the least.

I'm running the latest version of litestep and latest indie build on winxp pro. After installing the Universe theme I started something odd that occurs within ANY theme I use. After switching themes.. then at my discretion going back to the explorer shell, the Start menu is gone.. completely.

I've also attempted, instead of using the LSTS to go to explorer, simply using the Task Manager to end litestep.exe.

Either case, no start menu. I've attempted (unsuccessfully) to access the start menu options through the control panel when litstep was turned off, but it won't load.

I've scoured the docs and faqs, but I've yet to locate a solution. I know before I installed litstep, I did /not/ have the Start menu hidden, nor have I ever changed that setting.

I would like to keep litstep installed, preferring it wayyyyy over the normal xp shell. If, hoever, the solution is to unistall litestep, so be it.

But if anyone knows of a better solution.. help please?

Sounds like the height of your startmenu is 0 or so. Try hitting your windows key to bring it up, and if it does come up drag the explorer bar to resize it.

Thanks for the tip. I tried that but it doesn't come up at all.

You may want to check the system.ini or registry, depending on windows version, and make sure that it was uninstalled properly. It may be pointing to the wrong folder for explorer or something.

maybe litestep got jelous that you were using other shells? doesn't sound like a LS problem tho, very odd...
