hi all,

i've been trying to config litestep to run on top of explorer to get me my perfect desktop. it's pretty simple, but for the life of me, i can't get my step.rc right. preferrably, i'd like to run ls on top of explorer, bc i like the xplorer desktop just fine, but if i have to ditch explorer, i suppose i could live

on the bottom right, i'd like to have a clickable png that would launch my start menu, nothing too fancy. bottom left would be a systray with the icons stacked 3 high. pretty much like a standard taskbar minus the tasks in the middle. in the middle would go mobydock or something similar

and from mobydock i'd like to launch a few popup menus. ideally i could have 128x128 pngs as the shortcuts.

hmm, it's kind of hard to describe, i drew it up over here: http://www.theforumisdown.com/uploadfiles/0103/idealdesktop2.jpg

thanks for any help

i run my desktop at 1600x1200, but from what i understand one can use negative coordinates to make resolution independant themes. i've never gotten it to work right, though

why don't you use xploder-like themes? you can find some here and some from http://www.lsthemes.com too ;)

or just play around with a Explorer themeing app.

i tried a few different things out, but none of them really suited me well. i guess what i really want is either a stand alone tray application and i can use a hotspot for the start menu or something that will eat the tasks portion and leave me the start button and my tray

then what's the problem???
if you know what you want... just do it ;) (that sounded a bit nike(tm), didn't it?)
