After some reading I decided to try LS. Installed LS, rebooted machine and.. I got some error message about internat.exe crashing. Is there a theme that won't make international support crash. How do you people deal with this?

I have a couple themes that were even created on international keyboards...sounds like either a bad themer or a bad module

internat.exe is that icon in your systray, but ls doesn't like that (dunno why).
anyway, disable it and use hotkeys instead.
alt+shift doesn't work i think, change that to ctrl+shift.
also there are alternative input-language managers.
consult inform-seg@ for more information ;)

Actually it's internat.exe not liking litestep... it only works if you start with explorer as your shell, then start internat.exe, quit explorer, and start LS. Must be some explorer dependency we haven't figured out yet. If anyone has any details please let us know. :)

Egonz: not too bad :)
ilmcuts: huh? it is SO strange solution...

Internat.exe is a program that indicates keyboard layout.
You can find it only in Win95/98, may be in Me or NT 4.x - there is no separate application in Win2K and XP - may be it is a part of explorer there (99.9%), may be it is something more complicate (0.1%) - it doesn't matter :) ...
Internat.exe is incompatible with Litestep, so turn off it's loading by removing a flag "Show indicator in taskbar" in the Control Panel->Keyboard - and enjoy :)
If you still want to know the current layout - as Egonz said, there are many alternative managers and indicators.
Some information there:

There are some problems with Ctrl+Shift/Alt+Shift switching, but they are only in XP - you can forget about them until you'll upgrade your system %)

inform-sega: I know very well what it is, I was just saying that you can't _start_ it while explorer is not running. Hence it must have a dependency which we haven't figured out yet.
