I'm using Win2K pro, SP 3. Everything was fine and dandy, using LiteStep on one non-administrator user account. I installed IIS and the requisite patches to get it "secure" but now litestep hangs on logon. Can't fix it. I uninstalled LS and resinstalled...same problem.
Anybody have any idea what's wrong?
when you uninstalled LS and reinstalled did you boot into the explorer shell?
when I uninstalled, I rebooted, and I did get the explorer shell with no problems. I'd installed LS only on the specific user account, not for all users.
After I reinstalled LS and rebooted, the LS shell was loaded, but hung just as it did prior to reinstallation.
I think it must have something to do with IIS, but I've never had a problem using it and LS before...
have you tried loading liteman.dll?
no, I didn't...
I was able to get IIS & LS removed, did some clean reboots, reinstalled LS then IIS w/patches...all is well.
musta been somethin' weird w/IIS, but it's okay now. Thanks for the help.
best thing to do when installing software from M$ is to do it from the exploder shell. many M$ products don't install clean without it.
Strange... I run w2k sp3 and have had no problems installing software with LiteStep running. I've installed service packs, Office, IIS... You name it.
Perhaps I'm just lucky...
Octofinger, you're not alone - I'm lucky too %))
slickhorn, try installing as an admin. give the user account local admin permissions, then install litestep, reboot, and remove the accounts admin rights.
