I can load litestep fine with the simplicity theme but when I try to switch to any of the themes I've downloaded from this site it just goes to my desktop with just the wallpaper and I can't even right click or anything I can only access taskman. I just load the zip files right?

- Are the themes you download de-zipped in "$LitestepDir$Themes\" ?
- What are you using to switch themes ?
- Have you tried with !LSCP ?
- LSTS have to be configured to avoid put nasty things in "$LitestepDir$Step.rc"

Have you been able to figure out how to get the themes to switch?? I'm having the same problem - only simplicity works. some themes work half way but have errors ... other themes wont switch at all - just sit there with a desktop and nothing more...

every time i load a theme i get an error unless it's simplicity.

Maybe that's why it's called "simplicity"...

Go to http://www.charliehamster.co.uk/litestep.html and download the hacked LSTS, it should fix those problems.

first, download the latest indiestep build at http://indiestep.sourceforge.net. Second, make sure that in LSTS the step is set to step.rc.

Thirdly follow theme install instructions. Just because a theme works for the creator doesn't mean it will work out of the box for you.

A lot of themes come without .thm files. LSTS can't handle those themes if you don't have the hacked version.

Wrong. Omar's installer details the error when LSTS creates a .thm file. There's a spelling mistake in it. Just fix it with your favourite text editor and reload LiteStep. Wham! It should work. If not, don't come crying to me.

XinuX: No, not wrong. The spelling error is a bug, which is EXACTLY what the "hack" fixes.

no offense DeViLbOi, but some of the docs need updating. The info. you linked to on installing themes would create a lot of problems if somebody actaully tried to do follow it today.

It was of course accurate when the docs were relased a few years back...

well...I can't trust themers to write decent readme's and there is not a single OTS doc written even on your site...so its the best you can get.

Posted by member 265 on 2003-04-18 18:20:21 link

well, if the theme in question *is* truly an OTS compliant one than it can be installed as decribed here. ;)

but that isn't part of the OTS page that I have linked too.

Posted by member 265 on 2003-04-18 20:00:46 link

it isn't? :S

i'm confused... where exactly are you linking to? http://ls-ots.cjb.net/ is the link to the OTS docs.

there's only one OTS site so whatever you're linking to should have the page I linked to above.

I'm not sure what link you're referring to DeViLbOi, but if it's this one:
http://www.litestep.net/index.php?section=3&action=details&id=11
then the theme installation page is accessible from the page you've linked to.
