Before I wrote to the owner, I figured I would ask you guys. I just installed Litespawn friday, and now, whenever I try to bring up explorer as a file manager, it first loads up the explorer shell. Has anyone had this happen to them, and does anyone know how to fix it? thx.

means your registry isn't setup right. go through the install docs and you can verify everything. Its prolly the browse new process stuff...

HKey_Current_User\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon>Shell
What should shell be? dword, string or binary? I'm going through the docs, got to this point, and there actually is no shell key at all. I'm hoping this may be the problem.

um... you can't run Explorer the file manager if you aren't running Explorer the shell. It's a pain. Under Win9x you can use winfile.exe, but they took that out of Xp 8(

Go to run, type explorer, press enter. Works for me.

Wasn't it that setting to run file manager in a separate process that did the trick? Or am I wrong?

yup

Litespawn should have taken care of all the settings for you, mine did anyway. Anyways, here is a document that explains everything you need to know about installing/uninstalling litestep.

PS. VNC doesn't run slower with litestep, its actually faster with a theme that makes good use of hotkeys and shortcuts.

Tell me, how does one force the command "explorer" to run the file manager and not the shell?

couple different reg entries will cause it not to. Best bet is to go to the docs and verify all of the entries. The most commonly offending entry is BrowseNewProcess
