i just got this program and i am having problems understanding really how to us it.... I try to open MIRC for example and the server select menu comes up but nothing else and then it totally disappears after I tell it to log on.... cant minimize icq by hitting 'x' without it poofing etc.. anyways really i was wondering why it is that when I ask ls to minimize programs they dont shrink down to the systray instead they just disappear completely....
sorry for my ignorance =(

sounds like your tray isn't getting the icons. That tells me you are either using a really old build of LS, or you started LS as the shell after you booted into explorer. Try a reboot and if that doesn't fix it upgrade your LS build.

as to booting into explorer.... by boot process is such: windows XP loading (splash), then login screen - there are 2 users, only this one I have set to LS... Don't think explorer is loading at all unless the login slash counts?

i cant see it for any themes, it's a common problem (side note: alo tof the themes I try to download off this site don't fuction correctly for some reason ;\ - ya, I have read the readmes too)....
egonz: Yes... I have, however it's installed under a different user profile. should I uninstall it?

yes...it makes system wide changes to the system tray that cause your problem

how about the problems with most of the themes I try to download....why dont they work? Ill give an example I downloaded 'agony2' and went to open the theme as the .zip file, didn't work so I unzipped it and inside there's an entire litestep folder within but if I try to open it all I get are errors ;o

bad themer...OTS themes should not ever come with a LiteStep folder. They should contain images and modules that the theme depends on and the graphics to go with. A good sample of an OTS theme is Xhenit v2 by CraHan.

Often times themes don't come with a proper .thm file. Use the hacked LSTS (http://www.charliehamster.co.uk/litestep.html) and you shouldn't have any more problems loading such themes.

Dream, you have to make sure trayserver.exe and taskswitch.exe are not running at startup because they breake the Litestep systray. Both the programs I mentioned are part of DesktopX and from what I've read, will stay in your system even after an uninstall of DesktopX. You can either kill them at startup by opening your Windows Task Manager with "ctrl alt delete" find those programs in memory and kill them. Or search for those 2 programs on your drive, remove them and reboot. Though if you wish to keep DesktopX running on the other user profile, removeing them from the drive will breake DesktopX.

Personally I'd go for uninstall of DesktopX. Litestep is soo much better. :)
