So, i want to have a bakground image (http://fornwall.net/upload/files/vwm_grund.png) and i want rabidvwm only to use the part inside the gray border for vwm.

So 4 rectangle with a 1px space between [] [] [] []

Is this possible? it doesnt have to be rabidvwm if there is another module what would make it possible.

Sort of... You can change the space between desktops with VWMDeskSpacing to make it so, eg, maximized windows won't cover that space. But windows dragged part way off screen to span that space will still cover it. It's also a bit awkward, since it's in screen space rather than miniwindow space.

You should be able to cover that up too, though, by breaking the image up into pieces and having another module keep the other half either always above or always below (and using VWMLayers to put back above win) rabidvwm.

hmm.. i've decide to go the easy way and use simple colours. Might not be as "eye pleasing" as the first alternative but its easier and perhaps more practical.

thanks anyway

the only problem now is that i can't get it to hook with the *label =\

Are you loading modules before you config files?

Doesn't xLabel have to load before the module you are trying to hook to it...or do I have that backwards?

donno but xLabel is the last module thats loaded so... =\

EDIT:
everythings working now. the problem was then lsxcommand and rabidvwm didnt support "-" X/Y value when hooked =\
