clickonic-1.1 - could not locate module Thread last updated on 2008-09-03 09:43:40

I'm using Omar Hussain's Litestep distribution.

I just tried upgrading the Gnome Mini RC5 theme to use clickonic-1.1. I changed the line in theme.rc to use clickonic-1.1, then I recycled. A dialog came up saying it wasn't on my system, so I chose to install it. However, another dialog came up with the caption

D:\Litestep\modules\clickonic-1.1.dll

and the text

Error: Could not locate module.
Please check your configuration.

I've seen this error before when one module depends on some other modules being loaded first. I read through the clickonic-1.1 documentation, but there was no mention of dependencies on other modules.

Have other people gotten clickonic-1.1 to work?

I meant I chose to download it, and that seems to have worked - clickonic-1.1.dll is now in my D:\Litestep\modules. So the file is there, but Litestep can't seem to use it. It also appears in the About dialog in Loaded Modules but not in Revision IDs.

You probably need the required "Visual C++ 2005 Redist" or "Visual C++ 2008 Redist".
You can download these via http://www.Microsoft.com or visit http://www.ls-universe.info, i have added direct links in the "LiteStep Releases" menu on the left side of the homepage.

Thank you.

In my particular case installing the Visual C++ 2008 redistributable allowed clickonic-1.1 to load without error, but none of the icons in my desktop folder worked - hovering over shortcuts showed captions saying they weren't valid shortcuts, right clicking on them then viewing their properties showed empty destination fields; double clicking on icons for PDF files actually stored in my desktop folder (so not shortcuts) would load my PDF reader, but it said the files I was trying to load were invalid.

I deleted the entire clickonic registry key then refreshed. While I had to move the icons back to where I wanted them, the icons worked.

Please send me an email if this happens to you again, or if you have any other problems :) Post 1.1 versions of Clickonic shouldn't need the c++ runtimes :)
